El Mirador Surgery Center locate in Palm Springs, CA has been a top choice for local physicians that serves all people through exemplary health care and community service.  Our Center is seeking a Registered Nurse that has a basic knowledge in Infection Prevention, and willing to be trained in Employee Health. 
Employee Health / Infection Preventionist RN -Job Duties Summary and responsibilities:
·         The surveillance, analysis, and reporting of healthcare associated infections
·         Educating employees about infection prevention and control
·         The development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection prevention and control standards that meet AAAHC, OSHA, Public/State Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control requirements.
·         Promoting health and safety to all employees by facilitating an Employee Health & Wellness Program which includes disease detection, prevention, and treatment
·         Following up on employee illnesses and injuries
·         Conducting employee health screenings
Hourly Wage Range: $55 to $58 an hour.
Required Skills:
Education, Training and Experience Requirements for the Employee Health / Infection Preventionist RN:
·         Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of CA.
·         A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a surgical facility preferred. Additional coursework or certification in infection prevention is preferred
·         Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty
·         Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula
·         Ability to develop and maintain an Infection Prevention & Control Plan that includes timely and accurate surveillance activities, investigation, reporting, action plans and education
·         Knowledge of Employee Health injury/exposure reporting procedures
·         Knowledge in areas of patient care practices, epidemiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, infectious diseases, preferred 
·         Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
·         Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.  Effective communication, organizational and leadership skills, independent decision-making, and ability to handle multiple projects.

Hourly Wage Range: $55 to $58 an hour.


Required Skills

Education, Training and Experience Requirements for the Employee Health / Infection Control RN:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of CA.
  • Certification of CIC-APIC preferred or obtained within one year of hire
  • A minimum of five years of progressive clinical experience in a surgical facility preferred. Additional coursework or certification in infection control is preferred
  • A minimum of one-year experience with internal and external data management systems
  • Detailed knowledge of hospital organizations, committees, department functions, and performance improvement activities
  • Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements by Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, CDC and TDSHS standards
  • Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula
  • Ability to develop and maintain an Infection Prevention & Control Plan that includes timely and accurate surveillance activities, investigation, reporting, action plans and education
  • Knowledge of Employee Health injury/exposure reporting procedures
  • Knowledge in areas of patient care practices, epidemiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, infectious diseases, communication, program administration and the development of education programs
  • Working knowledge of the use of established care models Advanced nursing skills in area of Surgery area preferred.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
